I’m a very data driven person. I like to know what
I need to do day to day based on cold, hard facts. One tool that I’ve found particularly
helpful is a BMR calculator. I found a cool one at:

Take the BMR and choose your level below:
Desk job type person (sedentary lifestyle): multiply BMR
times 1.1
Salesperson (on feet a lot of the day): multiple BMR times
1.2
Fitness Trainer: multiple BMR times 1.3
Construction Worker: multiple BMR times 1.4
This will give you the number of calories per day that you
will burn. Your intake shouldn't exceed that number. If you take in the same
number of calories as you expend based on that number, you should hold your
current weight. My number per day to maintain is 1909 calories.
