How to Not Look Back: A Review

Last week, I reviewed my 2013 resolutions (well, more accurately, I reviewed my failure to launch those resolutions). With that in mind, I decided to seek out some inspiration for how to get myself back on track.

One thing I ran across was a tiny little snippet about getting back on track with any goal. It had five simple steps:

Nick Marino's "How to Start Over; Five Universal Strategies":
Last night's dinner! Yummy!

  1. Look back (but just once).
  2. Make no excuses.
  3. Take action. Start Small.
  4. Call for backup.
  5. Okay, look back once more.
Sounds easy enough! Right?!

So, when I wrote my blog last week, I looked back and completed step number one. I don't recall any excuses I used in that blog...but hold for me while I look. Nope. No excuses. I don't have any, other than being too lazy and forgetful. Oh hell, I think I just made an excuse. Do I need to start back at number one? No, if I start back at number one, then I'll have looked back twice. ONWARD!

Making no more excuses as of right now.
Where I walked to try not to allow last night's dinner to go to
my waist...New Bern is beautiful! And no, I don't walk on
water contrary to popular belief.
Number three: take action. Start small. Well, I did take some action during the week. I spoke with Shelley about starting a book club. Haven't decided which book we'll read yet, but I am currently in the middle of "Gone Girl" and wow...what a read! A personal book club. That's starting pretty small. I like it and it helps me get to my goal of reading 15 books this year. Also, Mark and I started an online class that will take us thru the next 15 weeks. It's a nutrition class provided by his health plan. I'm very excited about the possibility of learning new things. Wait just one minute! I think that both of those things mean that I have completed step four and called for backup! Yeeee hawww! I'm doing better than I thought.

I'm not ready to look back again yet. Oh hell. I did that at the beginning of writing this when I looked at last week's blog. Okay! I'm moving forward! No more looking back...

And, with that, until next time...
