Good Afternoon!
Some of my favorite childhood memories are of family trips. I
can recall being so excited to go to bed the night before a trip knowing that
we would be getting up at 5 am to roll out to the beach. I’m still not sure why
we always left so early!?
One time after visiting Myrtle Beach we had gotten about 30
minutes or so into the return trip, and my grandma asked, “we ‘bout in
Statesville yet?”. I think we were in Florence, SC if we were even that far.
She was certainly a character. But, what a wonderful memory she made for my
entire family!
My point here is this; every journey begins and ends with “the
getting there”. If we focus only on the destination, sometimes we forget that
getting there IS half the fun. This is just as
easily applied to life as it is to a flight to New York City or a car ride to
Lake James. Live in the present. Make the journey as fun as the destination. And
remember that oftentimes the people in our journey with us will create the best
memories.
Have a great week!
